ETAPALLI :
Etapalli is a block place. It located at the distance of 125 kms on the east of District place. On east boundary it has Chattisgarh state. Boundaries on other directions are shared with Mulchera, Aheri and Bhamaragard blocks of the same district. Baseline surveys and PRAs were conducted in 9 villages of cluster namely Aldandi, Hedari, Itulnar, Lanji, Mangera, Pursalgondi, Rekenar and Tadpalli. The villages are more like small hamlets, majority of people residing here are Madiya.

• 98% families hold livestock. Number of families having small animals is 240.
• Average livestock holding in the cluster is 17.

Agriculture:

• Only 40% of the farmers have some irrigation source at their disposal. 36 % of them have well or
   community well access and other 4% are making use of river or lake for this purpose.
• Cropping pattern: Though 40 % of farmers have reported about having irrigation sources available
   with them, it is observed that all the crops grown in the area are exclusively rain fed. This point
   needs to be further studied. Major crop in the cluster is rice (95%).
• 33% of the farmers have adopted using chemical fertilizers, and most of them (29%) use 50 KGs or
   less per acre.
• No awareness regarding soil testing and green manuring.
• Farmers use old variety of paddy and they do not have agricultural implement for land preparation
  and intercultural operation
• Timely agricultural operation not followed, farmer unaware about improved agricultural practices.
• 53% of families reported kitchen gardens.
