MANDANE

Mandane is at the distance of around 60 kms from district place. Total 16 villages will be benefited from the programme. Core villages are 7 namely; Bulane, Chandshaili, Mandane, Manmodaya, Navanagar, Titari and Valgaon.

Migration: It is a crucial issue as 65% people reported seasonal migration.

• Large number of families; 74% do not have animals out of which 34% holds only large animals and
  40% holds small animals.
• Average number of cattle holding per family is 5.

Agriculture:

• 45% of the farmers have irrigation facilities and its source is mainly well irrigation (35%).
• 41% of the farmers have access to well irrigation source and another 5% have access for river and
   other sources.
• Only about 16% of the crops are grown under irrigation and remaining 84% are rain fed.
• Major area is under cotton cultivation (52%) and next to it in order are pulses (24%), Jowar 14%
  and wheat 13%. Moong is the major crop under pulses comprising more than 80% of the area under
  different pulses.
• All the farmers have adopted using chemical fertilizers, and most of them (65%) use 50 kgs per
  acre. (Data needs to be reexamined)
• 10% of the farmers have followed the practice of getting their soil tested.
• 100% of the farmers have continued with traditional tillage practices with the use of bullock power.
• Absence of Green manuring, Kitchen gardens
• No awareness regarding value addition for agricultural produce
