KHANDBARA

Khandbara is located 30 kms away from Nandurbar district headquarter. Total 21 villages have been selected for the programme. Core villages are 8 namely Borcheck (east), Borchek (west), Karanjali, Modulipada, Nagare, Nizampur, Nimbhoni, Palipada.

• 83% of the families are holding large and small animals also out of which 58% maintain only large
  animals and 3 % of them maintain only small animals also.
• 28% of the families have small animals out of which 3 % families maintain only small animals.
• Only 14% of the families do not possess animals.
• Average no. of cattle holding / family is 4.

Agriculture:

• 45% of the farmers have irrigation facilities and its source is mainly well irrigation (35%).
• About 56% of the crop acreage is under irrigation and about 44% of it is rain fed.
• Major crops are rice (23%), Rabi Jowar, (33%) and wheat (17%). Sugarcane, jowar, Soya bean and
  pulses are other important crops with 5, 4, 7 and 11 percent crop acreage under these crops
  respectively.
• About 88% of farmers make use of 50 kgs or less per acre. Some 5% of them use more than 100
  kgs of it.
• None of the farmers has followed the practice of getting their soil tested.
• Majority of the farmers (95%) are carrying on their tillage operations on traditional lines with the
  use of bullock power and use of tractor for this purpose is nearly non-existent (only 1 of 251 uses
  tractor for ploughing).
• Absence of Green manuring, Kitchen gardens
