DEVTHAN :
Deothan is located around 15 kms from Akola block headquarter. Cluster office is located at Deothan.
Baseline survey was conducted in 9 villagesof Deothan cluster namely Deothan, Takali,Surgaon (kh),
Pimpalgaon – Nipani, Gardani, Tambhol, and Hivargaon - Ambre and Dongargaon.

• 56% families hold large animals
• 12% hold only small animals
• 32% families do not keep animals
• Average livestock holding per family is 3.
• Substantial number of cross bred cows exists.

Agriculture:
• Irrigation: 68% of the total land in this cluster is under irrigation and remaining 32% of it is rain fed. • All the farmers have adopted using chemical fertilizers and make use of minimum 50 KGs of fertilizers
   per acre. Two of them use more than 100 KGs per acre. People use only urea.
• However only 4% of the farmers have followed the practice of getting their soil tested. May be,
   lack of awareness of its need or difficulties in accessing the facility.
• Though other trends prevailing in the area indicate about higher level of innovativeness, majority of
   the farmers are still carrying on their tillage operations with the use of bullock power and use of
   tractor for this purpose is nearly non-existent. This point may be further studied.
