DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITY CENTRES

Under the project ‘Sustainable Rural Livelihood Security in backward districts of Maharashtra’, community centers have been established at cluster level through project support. Eventually these centers will be handed over to local committees formed at cluster level. For optimum utilization of this facility, this should be developed further. Our community centers should serve three major objectives

» Demonstration
» Training
» Extension

The programme initiated should be managed in future through these centers. All project activities should now be linked to the center. In future local committee should run these centers. Accordingly capacity building of the members will be undertaken.

Future management of programme through community centres will be broadly as follows

Expansion of the programme beyond participants:–
   • Up scaling of goat programme through adopting ‘Give one, Take one back’ approach. The kids taken back should be given to other
     deserving villagers.
   • Consultation for improved agriculture technologies

Demonstration Center:-
Demonstration of all relevant activities such as nursery, vermi compost and other project interventions can be set up at the campus of the centers.

Training Center:-
It should be utilised as training center for farmers. Accordingly it should have relevant material on livelihood issues.

Extension Cente:–
It should effectively work as an extension centre to reach out more and more farmers through effective extension programmes. Cattle breeding centre should be managed through it and it should provide all relevant services to the people at cost during post project period.
